Professor Pineappleton Explores Morocco
I can't recall the details of how or why pineapples in my classroom became a "thing". One of my favorite places to relax and visit with my family is Maui, and the pineapple symbolizes warmth and welcome. Which is exactly how I create my classroom: a warm, welcoming, and inviting space for all who enter to learn, be heard, valued, and brave to take academic risks.
One of my colleagues and friends (my work brother) gifted me this small crocheted pineapple figurine. Well, I also have a thing about naming my stuffies and Professor Pineappleton just fit, and I consulted my students to help with the name.
As I began my Fulbright journey, I thought it would be fun to bring the Professor along and take pictures of his experiences too. It was a wonderful supriprise that my new Fulbright friends also had their own travel mates in the form of symbolic stuffies. And that's how Professor Pineappleton made friends of his own in Octavius the Otter and Gulliver the Gnome.
Everywhere I went, from the Fulbright Global Symposium in D.C. in February to Morocco, Professor Pineapple tagged along and enjoyed the Ed-ventures. I took the thing in and out of my bag and pockets so often, that he lost his reading glasses. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
